Sinti and Roma – Europe’s largest majority – experience prejudice, marginalisation and discrimination throughout Europe. This racism has reached a new dimension all over Europe in recent years. But also in Germany, the Sinti who have been at home here for generations, as well as the Roma who have immigrated over the last few decades and who are currently applying for asylum, are subjected to antiziganism in all areas of life. There have so far practically been no advocates in the majority society. It’s primarily members of the minority themselves who point out this antiziganism and the severe consequences it brings. However, we all have the responsibility to call out and condemn prejudice and discrimination against Roma and Sinti, as well as to express our solidarity with those affected.
