As of 31 January 2023 , the Foundation Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe is looking for a secretary (m/f/d) for the Full-time area of the management, 39 hours per week, limited for an initial period of two years. A time limit of the position is provided for (the position is not suitable for part-time work). Remuneration and social benefits are based on the collective agreement of the public service.

The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe in the center of Berlin is the central Holocaust memorial of
Germany. It consists of the field of stelae designed by Peter Eisenman and the underground Information Center and is maintained by a federal foundation. The monument operates as a place of remembrance, enlightenment and encounter. It helps to ensure the memory of all victims of National Socialism and their appreciation in an appropriate manner and to refer to the authentic sites of remembrance. The foundation also looks after the Memorial to the Sinti and Roma Murdered under National Socialism, the Memorial to the Homosexuals Persecuted under National Socialism and the Memorial and Information Centre for the Victims of the National Socialist »Euthanasia« murders.

Tasks:

Correspondence with domestic and foreign partners and government agencies in German
and English

Keeping the diary of the director and staff

Invoicing and dispatch of publications

Invoicing for visitor groups

Telephone exchange

Organisation of business trips (booking flights, train journeys, hotels, etc.)

Travel expense report

Preparation of meetings and reception of visitors

Inbound and outgoing mail processing and their internal distribution

Management filing

Organisation of annual committee meetings (scheduling and coordination, invitation management, etc.)

Processing of time recording and holiday planning for the entire foundation

Preparation of the daily press review with regard to the Foundation’s
main topics Monument

Archiving of books

Completion generally. Secretarial tasks

Requirements:

Completed commercial training

Several years of relevant professional experience, preferably in comparable positions

Knowledge of German (min. fluent) and English (min. business fluent)

Enjoyment of dealing with people and a self-confident appearance

Sovereign handling of MS Office products

Independent and structured way of working

Solution and result-oriented thinking

Organizational skills

Great sense of responsibility, discretion and high reliability, especially when dealing with sensitive data


We offer
an employment contract for a weekly working time of 39 hours, remunerated with the pay group 6 TVöD (The classification is based on professional experience).
According to the collective agreement, annual leave of 30 days is granted. The contract is initially limited to two years. Thereafter, a time limit is sought.

The Foundation Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe is looking for guides on 1 March 2023. We are looking for interested freelancers who can serve our guests in German, Danish, English, French, Dutch or in easy language.

The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe in the centre of Berlin is Germany’s central Holocaust memorial. murdered Sinti and Roma of Europe as well as the memorial and information site for the victims of the National Socialist »euthanasia« murders.

We are looking for guides with extensive knowledge of the history of the Holocaust and the culture of remembrance as well as with experience in school and extracurricular educational work. The guides overview tours of the field of stelae at the monument, especially for German school classes and international visitor groups of all ages. We are looking for speakers who enjoy a friendly and service-oriented dialogue with visitors. The business fluency of German is the prerequisite for this activity. In addition, very good language skills in one of the advertised foreign languages are an advantage.
