The work had been going on in the background for some time, and now the new, revised version of the memorial portal has been put online. The overhaul affects not only the new graphical implementation in a new color environment, but also the underlying technology, including a newly programmed database.<\/p>\n

One of the most important innovations is that all memorial sites, be they museums, memorials or smaller memorial stones, are now underlaid with precise GPS data and displayed on a detailed map. If necessary, these can be clicked on and opened externally \u2013 in Google Maps \u2013 in order to be able to plan an exact route to the places, for example.<\/p>\n

The memorial portal is part of the exhibition in the Information Centre under the field of stelae of the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Using hundreds of examples, it offers insights into the diversity of the European culture of remembrance. The focus is on the memory of the murdered European Jews, but also of the other victims of National Socialism and the many millions of deaths of the Second World War. It can be found at the address www.memorialmuseums.org<\/a> and is available in German and English. <\/p>\n
