Rene R. Escalante, Chairman of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, Carmelo Crisanto (Director), Elvira Lapuz (Chief Librarian) and Viene Cuya (Secretary) of the Human Rights Violations Victims’ Memorial Commission were present.<\/p>\n

The \u00bbFreedom Memorial Museum\u00ab will soon open on the campus of the University of Manila, which will inform about the human rights violations during the authoritarian era under President Ferdinand Marcos from 1972 to 1986 and honor the thousands of victims. The guests came to Germany to get to know the local culture of remembrance in exchange with German places of remembrance and to seek collegial exchange. On behalf of the Foundation, Adam Kerpel-Fronius accompanied the group on their walk through the Field of Stelae and the Information Centre and explained the background to the creation of the Holocaust Memorial. Both sides stressed the importance of giving victims a name, a face and a voice.<\/p>\n
