The President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, visited the Holocaust Memorial

The President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, visited the Monument to the Murdered Jews of Europe on January 18th, 2019. He was welcomed by Uwe Neumärker, Director of the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, and Adamo Cicchi, Main Coordinator of the Memorial. President Mattarella was guided through the exhibition in the Information Center in Italian by Adamo Cicchi. After the tour the President signed in the guest book. At the end of his visit, he laid a wreath in the field of stelae and observed a minute of silence.

The President of the Italian Republic visited the Holocaust Memorial as part of his official visit to Berlin. He was accompanied by Enzo Moavero Milanesi, Foreign Minister of Italy, and Luigi Mattiolo, Italian Ambassador to Berlin. At the beginning of his political talks in Berlin, the Italian President Sergio Mattarella will also meet Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Federal President of Germany. He is also scheduled to meet Chancellor Angela Merkel and Wolfgang Schäuble, President of the German parliament, the Bundestag.
